Big update before the weekend2008-08-29
Recently I was able to find the time to draw 15 more pictures and scan them, upload them to the site, and post the articles. So there has been a pretty big update over the past 2 days. I still have over 80 articles with no pictures, but I put a serious dent in that number, which used to be well over 100. Here's a list of the new articles:
Arbalest
Caliga
Claymore
Crysknife
Francisca
Lance
Main Gauche
Morning Star
Nimcha
Parrying Dagger
Pulwar
Saif
Tanto
Tsurugi
Tulwar

I've also posted other articles to the site over the past month without an accompanying news item, but you can click on the History, Mythology, or Fantasy tabs at the top of the page to see them and what date they were posted. Have a great weekend!

Final Fantasy Mythology2008-08-18
So what was that exciting thing I hinted at? On my other site Od Studios I wrote an article which explains the origins of much of the equipment from Final Fantasy games. As part of the research for that article I added a lot of articles to this site, especially relating to Japanese swords.

The main article may forever be a work in progress as new games come out, but it has given me some motivation to move away from European arms and armor and research Japanese equipment. So you can expect new articles from both the east and the west as I try to complete the interlinketry between the two sites.

Yes that's a word, want to fight about it?

Your skill in Tedium has increased (244)!2008-07-30
I honestly thought it would take longer, but I've finished interlinking the articles to each other. There are some references to articles that don't exist (yet!) but I'll add them in later. I also added several new search classes such as:

Arthurian - Should get your most of the equipment from Arthurian folklore
Dietrich Cycle - Weapons and Armor related to Prince Dietrich of Bern and his knights
Gladiator - Gladiator related equipment
Medieval Europe - Kind of a catchall for weapons and armor prominent in Europe but not specific to a single country
Song of Roland - Equipment related to the 12th century French national epic, Song of Roland
Wayland the Smith - Weapons and armor said to be forged by Wayland the Smith (who is also the elf Volund in the Norse tradition)

I have an exciting new project coming up that should tie into this site well and there should be some new articles coming soon.

From Acinaces to Xiphos2008-07-28
My task of converting all of the site's JPGs to GIFs is officially complete. It was a tedious and tiresome process, and while most of the images are virtually identical, a few experienced a loss of quality. However, it was (hopefully) a good move to make for the long term quality of the site.

The next tedious and tiresome process is to interlink the articles to each other, which should take a week or two. And from there, who knows, maybe I'll do something that is neither tedious nor tiresome, like write new articles.
