Red Gourd

In the Chinese epic, Journey to the West, the red gourd is one of five treasures belonging to Senior King Gold Horn. When he holds the gourd upside down and say someone's name, if they reply the gourd sucks them inside of it. The pressure inside is strong enough to liquify someone within three hours.

Sun Wukong disguises himself as an immortal Taoist and tricks the demons into trading the Red Gourd and the Jade Vase for a gourd that can hold the entire sky. In reality Sun Wukong's gourd is a fake, but he manages to procure the two treasures before the demons find out, and eventually traps Junior King Silver Horn in the gourd where he is liquefied.

The five treasures belong to the Supreme Lord Lao Zi, who comes down from Heaven to reclaim them after the demons are defeated. It turns out that they were apprentices under Lao Zi who stole the treasures and came down to the mortal world to hide.

The other four treasures are:
Seven-Star Sword
Jade Vase
Plantain Fan
Dazzling Golden Cord
