Armor of Beowulf
In the English epic poem Beowulf, when Beowulf first enters the Hall of Heorot the author mentions that his armor was forged by Wayland the Smith (Volund). Later, in Beowulf's fight with Grendel's mother, the armor protects him from her attacks and those of the other monsters in the water, and she instead decides to drown him by dragging him to the bottom of the lake.
