Gullinn-Hjalti
Written by an anonymous Icelandic author in the 14th century, The Saga of King Hrolf Kraki tells the story of the Danish King believed to have lived during the 5th or 6th century. In the story, when the Gullinn-Hjalti ("Golden-Hilt") is found the king states, "That sword is not to be carried except by a man who is both strong in body and noble in spirit." The sword commonly associated with the king is Skofnung, and that is the sword he was buried with.
