Eldrige Sword

In the English ballad Sir Cawline, in order to marry his true love Sir Cawline needed to prove his courage by spending a night on Eldrige Hill, which was haunted by the Eldrige King. The knight stayed on the hill all night and when the Eldrige King appeared he defeated him in combat. As proof of the deed, Sir Cawline returned with the Eldrige sword, and married his love.
