In the Irish story Life of Mac Creich, Finnfaidech is the name of a bell that Mac Creiche raised up causing a flash of lightning to descend from heaven destroying a monster named the Crom Chonnaill. It is believed that the Crom Chonnaill was a metaphor for yellow fever, which was affecting the populace.
