Time Period: 3rd century BC to 4th century AD
Location: Rome
Common Construction: Iron

Scissores means "carver" and this sword was used specifically by the gladiator of the same name. Unfortunately nothing is known of the gladiator's equipment or who he fought in the arena, only his weapon.

The scissores is a sword with two blades forged to look like a pair of scissors without the hinge. We can only speculate as to how it was used, but it seems to be adept at trapping the opponent's weapon and breaking it, or disarming him.

On the TV show, Deadliest Warrior, the Scissores is depicted as an axe-like fist weapon with an iron guard. While this doesn't strictly match textual descriptions of the scissores, it makes a lot more sense as a practical weapon.
