Lochaber Axe (also known as the Jeddart Axe)
Time Period: 17th century
Location: Scotland
Common Construction: Wooden haft with steel head
The lochaber axe is a Scottish polearm similar to the guisarme-voulge. It consists of an axe-like blade with a sharp point on top and a hook on the back. It was used like a halberd, capable of thrusting and chopping attacks, and the hook allowed the wielder to dismount horsemen.
