Voulge
Location: Europe
Common Construction: Wooden haft with steel head
The voulge consists of an axe blade attached to a long pole. The blade is shorter than the bardiche, and the pole is longer. It also differs from the glaive in the fact that the weapon is designed for chopping rather than cutting. Some voulges have a hook on the back, in which case they are called a guisarme-voulge.
