The sica is a dagger used by Jewish insurgents against Rome in the 1st century AD. These insurgents were called Sicarii, or "dagger men" and the sica was small enough to be concealed within the folds of a man's robe.

The sica is also a curved sword used by the thracian gladiator. In this context the weapon is described as a short sword rather than a dagger, and was used to hook around the shields of his opponents to strike their arms, sides and back.
