Scimitar (also known as Scimiter)

Scimitar is a general term for Middle Eastern curved blades. This includes:
Kilij (Turkish)
Nimcha (Moroccan)
Pulwar (Afghan)
Saif (Arabic)
Shamshir (Persian)
Tulwar (Indian)
Scimitar is a 16th century label, most of these blades pre-date that term. Although the scimitar dominates Western fiction concerning Middle Eastern weapons, there is no single blade type that one could consider a scimitar.
