Padded Armor
Common Construction: Leather, linen or wool stuffed with canvas, cloth or hair
Padded armor is a general term for armor that is stuffed with layers of hair, linen, or wool used by soldiers too poor to own chain mail or plate armor. Padded Armor is seen in European history in the Arming Doublet, and Jack.
In fantasy terms, padded armor is almost the same as quilted armor. Quilted armor uses a sewing technique called "quilting" to create pockets of material that don't shift and bunch over time, creating a slightly more consistent degree of protection.
