Maximilian Armor
Time Period: 16th century
Location: Germany
Common Construction: Steel

Maximilian armor is named after the German emperor Maximilian I, and all subsequent armors made in the same style were also considered Maximilian. The most defining feature of the armor is its vertical fluting, which was designed to emulate the style of clothing worn at the time. However unlike parade armor, Maximilian armor was both functional and artistic.

The armor passed out of style in the middle of the 16th century, and the last suit of armor ever created was for Maximilian II.
