Self Bow
Common Construction: A single piece of wood

The term self bow refers to a bow's construction rather than its shape. It is a general term for any bow that is made from a single piece of wood. This is in contrast to laminated bows which were made from strips of several different woods glued together, or composite bows which were made from wood, horn, and sinew glued together.

Self bows are typically easier make and quieter, and make excellent hunting bows. However, they do not store as much energy and must be longer in order to achieve the same power as a laminated or composite bow.
