The khopesh was one of the most powerful and versatile swords of the ancient world. Sharpened on both sides, the blade is curved such that one side of the blade can be used for slashing, while the other side can be used for chopping.
The khopesh was originally used in war against the Egyptians, in the form of the Assyrian sappara. They eventually adopted the weapon as their own. The Greek kopis may have been derived from this weapon. |
